I am passionate about powerful stories. I remember the moment I fell in love with stories. My second grade teacher had left “Little House on the Prairie” on my desk, encouraging me to try a more advanced novel. I tore through the book in days, and suddenly I couldn’t get enough. Second grade novels turned into Young Adult library book shelves, spending my preteen summers reading everything I could get my hands on. Reading turned into writing and I filled pages and pages of composition journals. From mini novels, to journal entries, to prayers, to songs - words became the main way I knew how to express, process, and make sense of the chaos inside of my brain.

Fast forward to my late 20s and words have continued to be my safe space. From papers in college, to writing sermons as a young youth pastor, to sharing words of encouragement in counseling sessions with struggling teens, to devotionals declaring words of truth, and now to thousands of words in seminary papers and projects.

Words make stories and stories help us honor where we’ve been, process where we are, and make sense of where we’re going.

Now I am a full time youth pastor, part time M. Div. student at Fuller Seminary online, and I still really love stories, people, and words. Over the years I have learned that words and stories only matter because of the greatest story ever told, about a man who split history in two 2000 years ago.

I hope to use my words to tell that story. To make sense of my story. And ultimately to help everyone I interact see the possibilities God has for their story today.
